How to Wash Waterproof Gears

1- The baking soda will absorb the odors and oils built up in the liner to help your gloves smell fresh again.

2- You can also use hydrogen peroxide if you don’t have any rubbing alcohol.

3- If your gloves have removable liners, you can take them out to wash and dry them separately.   4- You can hand-wash the liners in the same solution. Otherwise, you can leave the liners inside the shells.

Gloves

1- Knock off or brush off all chunks of dirt. Do this outside or into a garbage bin. Use a stiff-bristled brush to help get into cracks (boot eyelets love chunks of dirt. Do this outside or into a garbage bin.

2- Scrub-a-dub your boots with Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel. It will help remove embedded dirt and prepare your boots for any waterproofing you might want to add.

3- Stuff your boot with a paper towel or a hand towel. This will soak up any extra water that might find its way into your boots during washing, and thereby help your shoes dry faster later.

Shoes

1- Before washing, brush off any loose mud or dirt. Close any zips and flaps on jackets and trousers.

2- Using a soft brush or damp cloth, brush off any dirt or dust that you’ve picked up on the trail. Close any zips and fasten any flaps, poppers or buttons.

3- it’s important to know that you never want to use ordinary detergent, as this actually can break down the waterproof coating. Get yourself a gear cleaner designed for outerwear.

Jackets

1- Zip up zippers, snap any snaps, and fasten all Velcro. 2- This prevents potential snagging or tearing while you’re washing. If your pants have elastic drawcords, make sure they are untied and slack

3- You can use normal laundry pre-treatment sprays or liquid dish soap to break up the stain before washing the garment itself
